One thing I know for sure is that I love a morning cup of coffee. Usually I use my coffee as a delivery system for other key nutrients in my diet such as collagen protein powder, grass fed butter, creatine and about 10 drops from a 14 mushroom tincture I got at Harmonic Arts.
Just to change things up a bit, the other morning I made the family a very delicious hot chocolate that everyone loved. It got me thinking…
‘what else can I add into the hot chocolate to up the nutrients in my kids diet’?
So I tried adding in some powerful dandelion root and presto, they still loved it and possibly even more.
Dandelion root is know for it’s many health benefits such as
– Kills cancer cells
– Good for the liver
– Immune boosting properties
– Eases digestive distress
– Loaded with healthy antioxidants
– reduces inflammation
and many more…
It is wise to be mindful of how much dandelion root as well as cacao powder for that matter, you feed you children. If too much is consumed, it will rev up their nervous systems.
There are two main point I am making…
1. Think about how food can be a delivery system for getting some good stuff in and…
2. Don’t be afraid to try changing things up and “ADDING IN” more good.
More often than not, things turn out great and everyone enjoys the creation. Give my Wake Up Chocolate Elixir a try and share your results on our Facebook Page.
Wake Up Chocolate Elixir (Dandelion)
Ingredients: makes 2 servings
- 3 cups water
- 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1-teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- 2 tablespoons dandelion root – roasted or fresh
How to Prepare
I prefer roasted dandelion root for this drink. To roast them, bake at 350 for 15 minutes on a baking sheet. Once done, place all the ingredients into a pot and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Now strain the roots and serve with a dash of cinnamon on top. This is a great coffee replacer and will provide a boost of mental and physical energy.
